Our Research Methodology

What FoundationQHub Is
FoundationQHub is a research and contractor-matching platform. We help homeowners understand foundation repair - costs, methods, problem symptoms - and connect them with local contractors who can provide in-person assessments and quotes.
We are not a licensed engineering firm. We do not provide structural engineering advice. The information on this site is educational and should be used to inform conversations with licensed foundation repair contractors or structural engineers, not to replace them.
How We Research Cost Data
Our cost ranges are compiled from multiple sources:
- Publicly available contractor pricing from consumer review platforms
- Industry trade association data (NAHB, NFPA, regional contractor associations)
- Government housing data and permit filings where available
- Published academic and engineering research on foundation repair methods
- Direct review of quotes shared by homeowners through our platform
We present cost data as ranges, not exact figures. We do not fabricate data points or extrapolate beyond what available sources support. Where data is limited, we state that limitation explicitly.
How We Describe Repair Methods
Our repair method descriptions are based on established industry practices documented by manufacturers (e.g., helical pier specifications), trade associations, and engineering literature. We do not recommend specific products or manufacturers. We describe general method categories.
We update repair method content when industry practices change or when we receive credible evidence of outdated information.
Our Editorial Review Process
All content on FoundationQHub is reviewed by our editorial team before publication. Our lead reviewer, James M. (Home Services Research Editor), evaluates content for factual accuracy, appropriate caveats, and alignment with our editorial standards.
Content is reviewed again when updated. Last-updated dates on all content pages reflect the most recent editorial review.
Contractor Vetting
Contractors in our matching network are reviewed for:
- Valid state contractor licensing (where required by the state)
- General liability insurance coverage
- Absence of major complaint patterns on consumer review platforms
- Active status in their listed service areas
We do not guarantee contractor quality. We recommend homeowners independently verify contractor credentials and obtain multiple quotes before committing. See our Contractor Vetting Process for details.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not fabricate cost statistics, expert quotes, or customer reviews.
- We do not claim to diagnose foundation problems without inspection.
- We do not guarantee insurance coverage, repair outcomes, or contractor performance.
- We do not accept compensation to change editorial content or contractor rankings.
